Request money through Popmoney

Request Money on the Popmoney menu allows you to request money from your Popmoney contacts in addition to contacts in your mobile device's contact list. You can request money from one person or from multiple people in the same request. When your contact sends their payment, the system deposits the money into the account you select in your request.

  1. Sign in to the app.
  2. Tap Transfer & Pay.
  3. Tap Popmoney.
  4. Tap Request Money.
  5. Tap To and complete one of the following actions.

If you are requesting money from a contact who you have paid or requested money from before, or who exists in your mobile device's contact list
  1. Select the person from whom you want to request money.
  2. Tap Continue.
  3. If the contact has multiple email addresses and phone numbers, tap the one that you want to use for sending the request notification. The Request Money screen appears.

Note: Popmoney contacts must have a first name, last name, and email address or phone number on file. If any of these pieces of information are missing, the app prompts you to enter the missing information before directing you back to the Request Money screen.

If you are requesting money from a new contact
  1. Type the first and last name of the contact in the To row of the Select Contact screen.
  2. Tap No matches found. Add a new popmoney contact. The Add a contact screen appears.
  3. In the Send To field, type the contact's email address or mobile phone number.
  4. Tap Save Contact. The Send Money screen appears.

Note: The app saves new contacts to your Popmoney contact list, but not to your mobile device's contact list.
  1. Tap Amount and type the payment amount you want to request.
  2. Tap Include a message and type a message for the recipient, such as the reason for your payment request. The system uses the message that you enter here as the subject of the email or body of the text message.
  3. Tap Deposit To and select the account into which you want the payment deposited when the contact pays.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Review the details of your request and then tap Send Request. The Confirmation screen appears.
  6. Tap Finish.
  1. Sign in to the app.

  4. Tap Request Money.
  5. Tap To and complete one of the following actions.

If you are requesting money from contacts who you have paid or requested money from before, or who exist in your mobile device's contact list
  1. Select all the people from whom you want to request money.

    To remove a selected contact, double-tap their name in the To row of the Select Contact screen.
  2. Tap Continue.
  3. If any of the contacts have multiple email addresses and phone numbers, tap the one that you want to use for sending each person the request notification. The Request Money screen appears.

If you are requesting money from new contacts
  1. Select any existing contacts from whom you want to request money.
  2. Type the first and last name of the new contact in the To row of the Select Contact screen.
  3. Tap No matches found. Add a new popmoney contact. The Add a contact screen appears.
  4. In the Send To field, type the new contact's email address or mobile phone number.
  5. Tap Save Contact. The Select Contact screen appears.
  6. Select the contact you just added.
  1. Tap Continue.

Note: The app saves new contacts to your Popmoney contact list, but not to your mobile device's contact list.
  1. Tap the drop-down arrow and select one of the following options.

Per Person

Select this option if the amount you enter is the amount you want to request from each person.

Split an amount equally

Select this option if the amount you enter is the total amount that you want to split equally amongst all the recipients. You can include yourself in this amount by tapping + myself on the Request Money screen.

 

For example: You are requesting money from four of your friends for a restaurant bill that totaled $150.00 that you all have agreed to split equally. Select Split an amount equally, type 150.00 in the Amount field, and then tap + myself. When you submit the request, your friends will each receive a request for $30.00.

Customize amount

Select this option to request different amounts from each recipient.
  1. If you selected Per Person in the previous step, tap Amount and type the amount you want to request from each person. If you selected Split an amount equally in the previous step, tap Amount and type the total amount that you want to split amongst the request recipients. Tap + myself if you want to include yourself when the system calculates the amount to request from each recipient. If you selected Customize amount, type the amounts that you want to request from each person.
  2. Tap Include a message and type a message for the recipients, such as the reason for your payment request. The system uses the message that you enter here as the subject of the email or body of the text message.
  3. Tap Deposit To and select the account into which you want the payments deposited when the contacts pay.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Review the details of your request and then tap Send Request. The Confirmation screen appears.
  6. Tap Finish.
